Getting started with Lacoura 3D

Lacoura 3D is a modelling studio that runs in a browser tab. It is built around the workflow professional 3D packages use — primitives and splines, sub-object editing, booleans, and a non-destructive modifier stack — with nothing to install.

Lacoura 3D is in early access. The tools described here work today. Things will change, and if something breaks, tell us — that is the most useful thing you can do right now.

Open the studio

Go to lacoura.com/3d and sign in with Google or your email address. The studio opens immediately at lacoura.com/3d/app — there is nothing to download.

Use a desktop browser with a mouse. The interface needs horizontal room, and several core interactions rely on the middle and right mouse buttons.

Make something in five steps

  1. In the Create panel on the right, pick a primitive — Box, Plane, Sphere or Cylinder.
  2. Drag on the ground plane in the viewport to create it. It appears in the Scene Explorer on the left.
  3. Press W to move it, E to rotate, R to scale. Press F at any time to frame the selection.
  4. Switch to the Modify tab to add modifiers, or press 1, 2 or 4 to edit vertices, edges or polygons directly.
  5. When you are happy, use Export in the top bar to write out a .glb or .obj file.
