Services

Start with the brand. Build the rest from it.

Strategy, brand, interfaces, websites and apps, packaging, and the marketing that keeps it all selling. Take one piece or the whole run — begin at whichever stage you are in now.

Understand the market

Positioning & strategy

We study the category, the competition and the people you want to reach, then write down what the brand stands for in terms a designer can act on.

Research & audits

Shelf walks, competitor and category reviews, and an honest audit of your current brand, site and packaging, gathered into one readable document.

Analytics & reporting

Measurement set up properly on your site and store, and regular reports that say plainly what is working and what to change next.

Define the brand

Visual identity

The mark, colour, typography and supporting graphics, built as a system and proven on real applications before anything is signed off.

Name development

A short, structured search for a name that fits the positioning, with each candidate shown alongside the character it gives the brand.

Brand standards

The rules written down: a printed guidelines book, and a digital standards site with colour, type and component tokens your developers can use directly.

Design the experience

UI & UX design

Interfaces for websites, apps and software tools, planned around the task in hand and drawn in the brand from the first wireframe.

Motion & video

Logo animation, product films and short social cuts that move the way the brand looks.

3D & visualisation

Product renders and retail spaces modelled before anything is made, so decisions are taken on the real thing rather than a sketch.

Build the website

Websites & online stores

Responsive sites and storefronts on WordPress, Shopify or BigCommerce, designed from the identity and built so your own team can edit them.

Web & mobile apps

Custom tools, product configurators and customer apps, designed and developed in-house, from the first screen to launch.

Systems & automation

Content management, customer records, e-commerce and email automation connected properly and kept secure, updated and backed up.

Design the packaging

Packaging systems

Several distinct routes mocked up on shelf, one carried through every panel and size, and artwork delivered ready for your printer.

Range extensions & updates

New flavours, formats and seasonal editions that sit comfortably beside what you already sell, so the line still reads as one family.

Gift, mailer & shipper design

The outer layers — press kits, subscription boxes, shipping cartons — designed so opening them feels like part of the product.

Launch and sell

Retail sell-in kits

The one-pagers, buyer decks, in-store signage and sampling materials a retailer expects to see before giving you space.

Retail environments

Fixtures, signage and store layouts, drawn and dimensioned so a fabricator can build them as designed.

Marketplace storefronts

Listing imagery, brand stores and ad creative produced to each marketplace’s requirements, starting with Amazon.

Keep customers coming back

Search & content

Pages structured for search and articles written for the questions your customers are already asking.

Email programmes

Branded templates, regular campaigns and the welcome, reminder and win-back sequences that run on their own.

Social & paid media

Post templates, campaign creative and ads for social, display and search, all drawn from the same system so every channel looks like you.

How a project runs

Five stages, each with a clear finish line.

  1. 01
Brief. We ask a lot of questions about the product, the buyer and the business, then send a written scope for you to approve. Nothing starts before that.
  2. 02
Direction. Research and a working session together, so we agree where the design should go before anyone opens a design file.
  3. 03
Options. A handful of genuinely different options, each shown on the real thing rather than on a blank page. You pick the one to pursue.
  4. 04
Refinement. We work the chosen option through a set number of review rounds until it is right and you have approved it.
  5. 05
Delivery. Artwork for print, files for the web, or a plan for the next step — packaged so your team and suppliers can use it straight away.

Three ways to hire us

One-off project

A defined piece of work with its own scope and schedule: a logo system, a website, a carton, a buyer deck.

Full launch

Everything a new product needs before it goes on sale, planned as a single programme so the brand, the site, the pack and the words all agree.

Studio on retainer

A standing monthly arrangement for teams with a steady stream of design and marketing work and no in-house department to do it.

What to expect

Agreed up front.
Delivered as agreed.

The agreement
Deliverables, schedule and cost are set out in a proposal and signed off by both sides before the work starts.
How long
Most packaging work takes around two months. It can move faster when content and decisions come back quickly.
Review rounds
The number of rounds is fixed in the proposal, which keeps projects moving and makes the finish line obvious.
What you keep
Once artwork is approved you receive the production files and the editable originals. You own them.
Outside costs
Print runs, freight, photo shoots and software subscriptions are estimated separately if the project calls for them.

Questions

Questions about working with us.

Can I hire you for just one service?

Yes. A one-off project has its own scope and schedule: a logo, a website, a carton, a buyer deck.

Which service do I need?

Describe the business or product and what you want it to do. We will tell you which of these it needs, and which it does not.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. A studio retainer is a standing monthly arrangement for teams with a steady stream of design and marketing work.

What happens in the first consultation?

A free, no-obligation conversation about your business, what you need and when you need it. If we are a good fit, we follow up with a written proposal. If we are not, we will say so.

How much does it cost?

Every project is scoped to what it needs to do, so there is no fixed price list. After a free, no-obligation first consultation we send a written proposal setting out what we will deliver, the schedule and the cost. Nothing starts until you have agreed it.

Do you only work with Chicago businesses?

No. We are based in Chicago and work with businesses across Chicagoland and beyond. Most of the work happens on calls and in shared files, so distance is rarely a problem.

Not sure which stage you are at?

Describe the product and what you want it to do. We will tell you which of these it needs, and which it does not.
