The phone layout works

The mobile layout was spending 391 pixels of an 812-pixel screen on navigation. It doesn’t any more: lists become cards, editors become tabs, and filters collapse.

Complete now means verified

“Complete” used to mean the worker stopped. Now, after a clean exit, Foreman runs the project’s build command in the task’s worktree, and the exit code decides the task’s real status.

How a task is settled

• The build fails: the task is failed, with the log tail on the timeline
• The build passes: the task is completed
• A build command is set but unusable: the task is blocked
• No command or no changed files: recorded as “not run”, so nothing implies it was verified

Also

• The build runs from tokenized arguments, with no shell in between

Sub-second voice replies

Spoken replies no longer start a new command-line session for every turn. They go to a fast chat model, using a key that is already in your keychain, so no new secret is needed.

Measured live

• 0.79 s, 0.93 s and 1.52 s, against two to four seconds before
• Falls back to the previous path if the fast one fails, so it can only ever be quicker

Delivery plans, and fleet slice one

Every task now gets a delivery plan before anything leaves its worktree: Foreman classifies the risk of what changed and names the files. Source changes keep the draft pull request gate at every autonomy level.

New

• One address for every machine running Foreman, with a device registry and projects across machines
• Registering a folder that isn’t a git repository offers to initialise it
• Voice on iPhone takes a tap per turn, because the browser needs a gesture for the microphone

A new interface

The app was rebuilt on the new design: a calmer shell, search on ⌘K, stat cards, a task table with worker and duration, project tabs, a task page and a create-task page, all on real data.
