Quickstart
Install Foreman, start the orchestrator and run your first supervised task.
What Foreman is
Foreman is a local-first command center for supervising many Claude Code sessions across many projects. It gives every task a structured record, an isolated git worktree, an approval and policy layer, live output, and recovery after a restart.
The orchestrator runs on your machine and listens on 127.0.0.1:4319. The desktop app, your phone and the voice layer all talk to it; nothing talks to your repositories directly.
Prerequisites
- Node.js 20 or later (developed on 24 LTS)
- Git
- macOS or Windows
Install
Install the workspaces. This also fetches the native binaries for the machine you are on.
npm install
npm test
npm run typechecknode_modules. It holds native binaries built for the system they were installed on. Copy the source, or use git, and run a fresh npm install.Start the orchestrator
npm run orchestrator
# listening on http://127.0.0.1:4319Then open the desktop app, register a repository as a project and create your first task. A folder that isn’t a git repository yet can be initialised from the same screen.
